Does Anyone Really Need This Much Makeup?

So, what to do with no gigs to perform or events to book while on virtual COVID-19 lock-down? Yeah, I just let my natural OCD kick in and I cleaned my bathroom drawers!!

To my surprise, I discovered [...]

[...] that these drawers that I use every single day clearly have a secret life of their own. They apparently have an uncanny ability to reproduce containers and jars and brushes and blushes and foundation and lipsticks and lip gloss and eyeshadow and mascara and eyeliner and sponges — all on their own!

They’ve obviously spent years accumulating cute little travel size versions of all of the above and then, covertly included tiny soaps and lotions that were illicit luggage stowaways, contained in adorable flowered packages that no female human could ever bear to part with.

My drawers are cunning and subtle, hoarding all my secret desires for longer lashes, flawless skin tone, a more glamorous lip color and smokey eye lids.

How do they know me so well, these drawers??

Well, today — things will change. I will mercilessly toss out mini perfume bottles that have lost their scent and the purse sized powder foundation/eye shadow combination in the beautiful mirrored and magnetized holder.

Without looking back I will listen for the “thud” of travel sized lotion bottles that still remind me of a wonderful trip to Mexico many years ago. Gone. Everything is gone that I haven’t used on my face, in my hair or on my body in the last 6 months.

And this evening, I’m experiencing the intense satisfaction and the pure pleasure of the precious emotional space that organized bathroom drawers bring to my life.

Because — seriously. Does anyone really need that much makeup?

I learned something today. Perfume goes stale and loses its nose? Kudos for your bold usage of run-on sentences. It's a long lost art form from which far too many young bloggers shy. It's usually comma and parenthesis paralysis that hampers occasional experimentation. Clever too is the linkage of sound alike words..i.e. "brushes and blushes".
I'll want to see more of Lisa's work and soon. If you please. 😁

We've been going through the house and having no mercy on the things we have not used in a long time.

Questions I ask myself:

Have you needed this a year ago: No
Have you needed this 6 months ago: No
Did you use this yesterday: No
It goes in the trash/give away bags.

It is definitely beautiful to free oneself of clutter!

It is amazing the freedom that comes from reducing the extra “stuff” of life. I completely agree with the thought that outer order contributes inner calm. I’m so glad you were able to enjoy your organizing!!
